Your Opportunity:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support Inventory Accounting functions, playing a key role in inventory, stock, and intercompany financial processes. You’ll assist with reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and month-end activities, while working closely with the wide Finance team. This role offers strong exposure to inventory accounting, transactions, audits, and financial analysis within a fast-paced, retail environment.
The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for:
Providing support to the Intercompany and Inventory Financial Accountants
Preparing invoices for intra-group inventory purchases/sales (Commercial Invoices)
Reconciling goods in and stock transfers for company-owned stores and franchise stores
Preparing and posting journal entries to record stocktake results and shrinkage provisions
Preparing and posting journal entries to record branch write-offs and other stock corrections
Running reports from the POS system for month end journals
Preparing and posting journal entries to record cost of goods sold entries
Assisting with intercompany recharge entries, including running general ledger reports and preparing postings
Assisting with reconciliations and analysis of intercompany accounts
Reconciling Balance Sheet accounts and resolving variances in a timely manner
Assisting with downloading GST/VAT support for freight shipments
Assisting with month end and year-end financial reporting
Providing audit support in preparation for, and during, external audits
Assisting with ad-hoc financial investigation and analysis as required
Adherence to month end and other regulatory timelines
Regularly liaising with key stakeholders in Banking and Accounts Payable teams globally
Skills we are looking for:
Strong Excel skills
Proficient in managing large data sets
Experience with SmartViews or Oracle Fusion favourable but not essential
Ability to manage deadlines
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Strong attention to detail
Accounting Degree qualified. Studying towards CPA or CA qualification an advantage.
Can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of accounting principles
